    THOHT Documentation

Everything you need to set up THOHT and get the most out of voice‑to‑text on your Mac and iPhone.

    Updated June 2026

THOHT turns your voice into text, fast — and it keeps your words on your own device. Speak, and your dictation appears in whatever app you're using: your editor, your email, your chat window, your notes.

This is the documentation. It covers what THOHT does, how to set it up, every setting you can change, the exact usage limits, and how to fix the things people get stuck on.

    What is THOHT

THOHT is a dictation app for Apple devices. You press a shortcut, talk, and the text lands in the app you're already working in — no copy‑paste, no separate window to babysit.

Two things make it different from the dictation built into your Mac:

    • It runs on your device. On an Apple Silicon Mac, transcription happens locally. Your audio doesn't leave your computer for standard dictation, and it works offline.
    • It can polish as it goes. With Pro, THOHT can clean up filler words, fix grammar, reformat speech into an email or a list, or translate — using AI, on top of the raw transcription.

One subscription — Universal Purchase — covers every device on the same Apple ID. Buy Pro once and it unlocks on all of them. See Pricing & subscription.

    How these docs are organized

    • Download: THOHT on the Mac App Store
    • The two shortcuts to remember: ⌥D to dictate, ⌥C to polish text (Pro).
    • Free vs Pro: local dictation is free forever with no caps; AI and cloud features are Pro. See Limits & quotas.
    • Stuck? Email info@thoht.app — a real person (one of two) reads it.
