# Overview

THOHT gives each Apple platform a purpose-built dictation experience. On Mac, a global shortcut starts dictation in the app already in use. On iPhone and iPad, a full typing keyboard adds a slim dictation bar in compatible text fields, while the container app also provides Notes and Quick Capture. The mobile app includes widget and Live Activity surfaces.

On Apple silicon Macs, core transcription can run locally, works offline, and has no service usage caps. Intel Macs, iPhone, and iPad use Pro cloud transcription. Mobile cloud processing starts only after an explicit, versioned consent decision in the app.

# Shared subscription

THOHT Pro is a single auto-renewing monthly subscription. The same `thoht.pro.monthly` entitlement unlocks the supported Mac, iPhone, and iPad apps when the devices use the same Apple Account. A user who subscribed on another device can use Restore Purchases. Family Sharing is not enabled.

US pricing is $4.99 per month after an eligible 7-day free trial. Apple displays local pricing and eligibility before purchase.

# Sync boundaries

Custom prompts, vocabulary, Personal Context, and selected settings can sync through iCloud. Transcription history and Notes remain device-specific and do not sync. Local audio retention also remains on-device; mobile retained audio is excluded from backup.

# Privacy

- Apple silicon Mac local transcription does not upload recording audio for transcription.
- Cloud transcription sends that recording's audio over HTTPS through THOHT's proxy to a cloud transcription processor. The proxy does not retain the audio.
- AI editing sends the selected text, prompt, and optional context needed for the requested action.
- Apple-signed transaction data is verified to unlock Pro and enforce service quotas; THOHT never receives payment-card details.
- Optional anonymous usage analytics are off until the user opts in and never contain recording audio or transcribed text.

# Free and Pro

- On-device dictation on Apple silicon Macs is free and uncapped.
- Normal cloud transcription and AI use require Pro. A limited onboarding preview exists so new users can test the flow.
- Pro service use remains subject to per-minute and weekly abuse-prevention limits.
- Custom vocabulary supports 5 words on Basic and 20 on Pro; saved prompts are capped at 30.
